The Royal Improvisers Orchestra involves around 20 musicians from all over the world

and from all kinds of backgrounds. This fantastic Orchestra uses a conducting technique

that Yedo Gibson has been developing together with the musicians since working with the

London Improvisers Orchestra. All orchestra members take turns in conducting, using 30

pre-arranged hand signs. The musicians are daringly expressive, creating top quality music

in real time, communicating freely with each other and with the audience. Everyone has an

equal role, and trusts each other implicitly. Experience has shown that this way of making

music is very effective in introducing people to new music. The gestures and expressive

content add up to an inspiring visual and theatrical experience. Concerts of The Royal

Improvisers Orchestra include street performances where the surroundings - a tram stop,

a bridge - also serve as instruments.
